Who will supply steel to Ukraine? The answer will be known at the congress

Will Poland get involved in the rebuilding of Ukraine and supply its neighbor with a basic raw material - steel? This question seems to be the one in the rhetorical category. We will certainly join in the assistance. The question is: how?

According to the latest data from the World Bank, According to the latest data from the World Bank, the cost of rebuilding Ukraine after the war will be more than $411 billion. That's well over one and a half trillion zloty at this point. What will be the final amount? Who will finance it and provide the basic raw materials for reconstruction?

Is it worth dealing with the topic of reconstruction already, if there is no end in sight so far? It is worth it! It's better to have a prepared thoughtful solution and implement it, than to be surprised and act under time pressure. During a debate at the first edition of the European Steel Congress STEEL 2023, experts from the steel industry will analyze the prospects, opportunities and threats that stand in the way of Ukraine's "return to normality", which will take many years.

In addition, experts will address topics such as the participation of Polish and European companies in reconstruction, the financing of raw materials, and discuss the barriers facing entrepreneurs. The debate will take place on Monday, at 4:30 pm at the MCK in Katowice. Participation in the congress is free of charge. All you need to do is register here.

The congress is not only one debate

The event will address many issues that are relevant to more than just steel. The program is designed to address many problematic issues. Among other topics, we will discuss:

  1. Megatrends determining a new path for the steel industry in Europe in the face of a constantly changing environment during a panel discussion - "Megatrends shaping the steel industry in Europe in an unstable environment." At the core will be a discussion of the impact of today's climate change, technological innovation or geopolitical instability on this dynamic industry.
  2. Heavy industry in the context of ensuring national security and defense during the panel - "Steel for the defense industry a guarantee of security".
  3. Smart solutions for the steel industry and their application in production processes. Participants will learn how automation, data analytics, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are revolutionizing the way we create, monitor and optimize production.
  4. Gren financing in the steel industry, the main objective of which is to use capital in a way that contributes to reducing negative environmental impacts and supporting the development of sustainable environmental, social and economic solutions, more specifically:
  5. A description of bank products related to green financing,
  6. Legal requirements for obtaining sustainable financing,
  7. The importance of the industry in connection with the provision of financing,
  8. The impact of green measures on business,
  9. Sustainability-linked bonds (so-called green sustainability-linked bonds).

The workshop "How to build a planet-friendly steel mill?" will be an interesting highlight. Building a green steel mill, is a complex challenge that requires consideration of many aspects. The process should include the use of renewable energy, minimization of greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency of production processes, recycling and recovery of raw materials from production waste.

Those are just a few of many topics, which will be discussed at the first edition of the European Steel Congress STEEL 2023, which will be held on September 18-19 at the International Congress Centre in Katowice, Poland.
